Green Berkshires focuses on development proposals with the potential to have regional negative impacts in the Berkshires and neighboring communities.

In particular, we examine proposals that could adversely affect mountains, ridgelines, wetlands, and waterways of the Berkshires.

We conduct research, review public records, and consult with experts and lawyers to help educate ourselves and the public about the facts and ramifications of certain projects.

Our goal is to have the best possible science and management practices shape decisions about impacts to the natural resources of our region.

On some proposals, we decide to become involved in project reviews by local and state permitting boards, and, on rare occasions, to seek additional reviews by state agencies or the courts.
